1970's:  Opal Johnson served as the Church Clerk the entire decade. She served from 1967-1985.

1970:  Zion Hill Baptist Church members voted to install a kitchen in the basement of the church.

1970:  Many members attended the Billy Graham Crusade in May at Neyland Stadium.

1971:  Edmond Latham came to Zion Hill as pastor. He was born Nov. 29, 1919, to Michael & Mary Jane Latham. He was saved when he was 14 years old. He was married to Irene Reed and had one daughter, Mary Ellen. He felt the Lord calling him to preach in 1956. He has pastored 4 churches.

1973:  Purchased first organ.

1973:  Church celebrated its one-hundred year anniversary with a special service during the pastorate of Rev. Edmond Latham.

1975:  Members of the church purchased new Baptist Hymnals in memory or honor of a loved one. These replaced the much-worn Broadman Hymnals.

1976:  W. A. Galyon was called as pastor. He was born May 17, 1924, to Oscar & Flora Galyon. He was saved when he was 11 years old. He is married to Dorothy Hodges and together they have three daughters. He felt the Lord calling him to preach in 1943. He has pastored 14 churches. He left Zion Hill when called to be the Director of Missions for the Sevier County Baptist Association.

1976:  Church celebrated the Bicentennial of the United States with a special service featuring patriotic music.

1976:  Hosted the Wednesday session of the 91st Sevier County Baptist Association annual meeting. Rev.Ray F. Williams was moderator and brought the moderator’s message for the delegates.

1976:  March 7 was proclaimed Mark Martin Day at the church in honor of his visit to the Soviet Union with the University of Tennessee Band. He presented a concert for the church.

1976:  February 1976 was unusual! There were five Sundays. To commemorate that unique event, members present that Sunday signed a book in honor of this occurrence. The following is an incomplete list [not transcribed] of those present on Sunday, February 29 1976. This event will not take place again until the year 2004.

1976:  July 4th the church had a special service in honor of the bicentennial of the United States, featuring patriotic music.

1977:  Ordained Ralph Carr, Kenneth Galyon, Jimmy Loveday and Danny Pitner to serve as deacons for the church.

1977:  Started a church library.

1977:  Mark Martin gave a special concert for the church in recognition of his trip with the University of Tennessee band to Moscow.

1978:  The shortest pastorate at Zion Hill was 2 weeks and belongs to Guy Milam. He was born April 17, 1935, to Stephen & Rena Milam. He was saved when he was 9 years old. He is married to Maxine Rogers and together have three children. He felt the Lord calling him to preach in 1946 when he was eleven years old. He preached his first sermon when he was sixteen and has pastored 7 churches.

1978:  W. F. Hall, noted Bible teacher at Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy, served as interim pastor.

1979:   Rev. Ralph Cline was called as pastor. He was born Nov. 26, 1923, to Homer and Della Cline. He was saved when he was 13 years old. He was married to Helen Aultom and together had 2 daughters. (He was saved under the shed at Bell’s Camp Ground Baptist Church and today that shed is in the cemetery where Rev. Cline is interred.) He was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1947. He has pastored 7 churches.

In honor of Baptist Men's Day, the following men served the Lord at Zion Hill in the 1970's in the following church offices:
