The text contained in this article is from a Web document that was formerly available at the Sevier County Library's Web site. The document is no longer on-line, but it was located in an Internet Archive. The actual source and transcriber were not identified in the document, nor was there any indication of whether the extraction was complete. Some minor, obvious corrections were made to the text because it appeared to have been mechanically converted (OCR).

Names Extracted from the Minutes of the First Baptist Church in Sevierville

Originally named "Forks of the Little Pigeon Baptist Church." Established 1789.

Transcribed from the originals by Joe Sharp. Sharp's transcript was copied and compared to the original by Harold Ownby in 1985.

This list typed from Harold's copy. This is just an attempt to get the names made available and not to copy the entire minutes. Hopefully, this will help people who are trying to locate their families in this place and time.

A debt of gratitude is owed to Harold for all the work necessary to provide this copy. Edna Clack 1999

The Church was destroyed during the war and reorganized in 1876.
