OBITUARY
'Earth could not hold so rich a flower, Nor half its beauties know.'
Died at Cannon's Store, in Sevier County, on Sunday morning the 1st day of the present month, Mrs. Mary Tannon, and daughter of Col. William Heiskell of Monroe Co.
The subject of this feeble tribute in her memory was about twenty-seven years of age. As a daughter, as a sister and, as a wife, she merited the highest eulogium; in her intercourse with her acquaintances he was easy in her deportment, courteous and agreeable. Engaging in her manners and person, modest and amiable, with a heart to feel for other's woes, she was just what a woman ought to be. 'None knew her but to love her.' Who that does not feel for the afflicted husband and for the two sweet little children she leave behind.
'She has gone from those who loved her;
Gone that she might come and woo them;
Come again as spirits may;
Come and linger around their pathway,
Lest their foot should ever stray.'
