The first queries system for the TNGenWeb project was in place from approximately July, 1996, to December, 1998. Queries were e-mailed to the site host(esse)s, who placed them on-line in plain HTML pages. There was no opportunity to post responses as there is now.

Queries posted from August, 1996, to early 2000, are now available on this Web site for reference. There is a gap in 1999.
Note that most of the e-mail addresses are probably invalid by now. If you can update any of them, please contact the Webmistress (link in Menu).

HUGH HENRY,JR. -- Where was Henry's Station or Henry's Community located in the Dumplin Creek area in the French Broadwater Country? Hugh Henry, Jr came from this location to go to Guntersville, AL. Who was his first wife and who was his mother? Who was his father? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have hit a standstill until I find out Hugh Henry's wife and parents.

I need information on Hugh Henry,Jr who left Sevier Co. and Dumplin Creek and moved to Guntersville,AL. His son, Albert Gallatin,moved to Guntersville,AL at age 12 years. Hugh Henry,Jr. married Patsy Gunter in Guntersville but they did not have any children. I would like to know who Hugh's father was. His grandfather was Major Hugh Henry who had his graveyard somethere in the vicinity of Sevier. All this would have been around the turn of the century of 1800. ROMINE, CANTERBERRY, CANTERBURY -- I would like to find information on the family of Layton, Leaton, Seaton (same person) Romine. This man married Rose Canterbury or Canterberry. Layton Romine died in Sevier Co. Tenn. around 1836. He had sons by the names of Samuel, James, Peter F. William. HELTON, MARY ELIZABETH -- I am seeking information regarding my great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Helton. She was born in Sevier county Tenn. in 1844. She told my father she was a Cherokee indian and taught him a little about how the indians healed their sick with herbs and plants. Her father's name was John Helton. She married Levi Leroy Cobb and they moved to Missouri. The only thing I have to go on is what my father told me and I would like to find out more about her.

HURST -- Looking for information on the HURST Family in Sevier County. My husbands great grandfather George W. HURST was born in Tennessee. I feel that he was son of George and Elizabeth Hibbs HURST family. George W. HURST was born September 27, 1833. George moved to Fulton County, Arkansas the late 1850's or early 1860's. I think that some of his brothers went with him to Arkansas. I found a John HURST in Arkansas and that he could be a brother. Looking for a connection in Sevier County with the HURSTS. GREY, ATCHLEY, HARRISON, CARR, KERR -- Emma GREY,of the Cherokee nation, married to James ATCHLEY?, daughter-Thursda Darusha,married to Benjamin Harrison,widowed, remarried to James CARR? purported name change to KERR instead of CARR - circa late 1700's or early 1800's. Settled on old Reouch property initial marriage, Thursda inherited this land on death of first husband. This is in Taylor County in Kentucky, straddling the Green River. Local cities are Campbellsville, Greensburg, Columbia, Mannsville, Acton, Lebanon, Raywick, and Elkhorn. This woman is the matriach of my mother's family.I am looking for any siblings,and/or descendants of Emma GREY and Thursda Darusha.Thursda allegedly married Benjamin Harrison while still living in the Cherokee Nation, and traveled to Kentucky afterwards.

SEVIER -- I would like to find the descendants of John sevier, the frist governor of Tennessee. My great great grandfather's name was James A. Sevier. I have grown up with the understanding that I am a descendant of John Sevier, and am trying to find the connection. James A. may have been born in Kentucky in about 1822. My great grandfather, James W. Sevier was born in Missouri.
