Map drawn by Gladys Trentham Russell in 1983.  Used here with her permission.

The Forks-of-River Community no longer exists.  It is now a part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  The Sugarlands Visitors' Center is located where the community once stood.  This map, drawn by Gladys Trentham Russell in 1983, shows the approximate location of community houses, churches, buildings, roads, and cemeteries in 1925-1930.  Mrs. Russell, author of the outstanding book, Call Me Hillbilly, graciously gave her permission for the map to be posted here.

A full-scale, printable version of the map is also available.  It may be downloaded only for personal use as defined under U. S. copyright laws.  The download version is in Acrobat PDF format.  You will need the free PDF reader installed on your computer to view the map.  Once it is on your screen, use the Acrobat commands to save and/or print it.

You can download the free Acrobat PDF reader from the Adobe Acrobat Web site or the great, free, "lite" reader from FoxIt (I'm a fan!).
